On Saturday, September 21, participating retailers will produce a Step Up For Fashion “platform style show” with a model in front of their stores at 1, 2 and 3pm and host an in-store shopping event to benefit the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s (CFDA) Scholarship Fund. Participating stores will donate 10% of sales to the Fund and welcome customers to step inside to view the new collections and put together fall looks with assistance from their in-house stylists and personal shoppers.
The public can Step Up For Fashion and have their photo taken on our red carpet in front of our step & repeat at our event stage located on the west side of Madison Avenue between East 63 & East 64 Streets (12:30pm to 3:30pm).
Step Up For Fashion will be the centerpiece for WELCOME BACK SATURDAY – Madison Avenue’s annual event to celebrate the return to fall fashion and shopping.
The CFDA’s Scholarship Fund supports the next generation of leaders in the fashion design industries.
“Madison Avenue is the epicenter of American as well as global fashion and luxury,” CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said. “We are grateful to the Madison Avenue B.I.D. for supporting CFDA Scholarships with Step Up For Fashion and thereby helping CFDA’s important work to secure the future of American fashion.”

The Fall 2024 collection from alice + olivia revisits various significant visual art movements: ’60s Pop-Art, ’70s abstract murals, ’80s graffiti art, ’90s photography, a cloud room representing AI, an old master surrealist moss sculpture garden, symbolizing timeless fashion as its own art… all serving to remind us that fashion is truly an art form. The 1960s artist Tom Wesselmann once said, “the challenge for an artist is always to find your own way of doing something,” a sentiment that resonates with fashion design today. Wesselmann is an iconic artist, coined the Father of Pop Art movement of the ‘60s. His work includes collages and abstract assemblages of everyday objects. As part of the FW24 collection, alice + olivia brings Tom Wesselmann’s art to life with a collaboration based on three of his paintings: Limitless, Still Life, and Natural Beauty.
