About the Role
MILLY is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and fashion-driven Store Manager to lead our Madison Avenue location.
The Store Manager will be responsible for the overall performance and day-to-day operations of the store, with a strong focus on driving sales, delivering an exceptional client experience, developing and motivating the team, and maintaining the highest standards of visual presentation and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is passionate about fashion and styling, highly customer-focused, and comfortable taking ownership of all aspects of the business—from sales and clienteling to staffing, inventory, visual merchandising, store events, and local marketing initiatives.
This individual will serve as a strong ambassador for the MILLY brand and should have a keen understanding of our brand vision, customer, and the evolving luxury and contemporary fashion landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Leadership
• Drive the store’s sales performance and consistently work toward achieving or exceeding sales goals and KPIs.
• Understand store financial targets and effectively communicate goals, priorities, and expectations to the team.
• Motivate the team to maximize individual and store performance, including achievement of applicable sales incentives and bonuses.
• Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance and identify opportunities to increase traffic, conversion, average transaction value, and client retention.
• Partner closely with the Brand President and Corporate Sales team to establish objectives and develop strategies to maximize store performance.
• Lead by example on the selling floor, demonstrating exceptional customer service, styling, clienteling, and selling skills.
• Foster a professional, positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
• Create a culture of accountability, coaching, continuous feedback, and development.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding employees, customers, and company information.
Team Management & Development
• Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day employee matters within the store.
• Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and develop store employees in partnership with Human Resources and the executive team.
• Conduct in-store onboarding and clearly communicate expectations, responsibilities, performance standards, and goals to new hires.
• Provide ongoing coaching and conduct regular performance discussions, including introductory-period reviews and annual performance evaluations.
• Identify performance concerns promptly and partner with Human Resources when additional guidance or corrective action is necessary.
• Identify training and development opportunities and provide ongoing product, selling, styling, and customer-service training.
• Effectively delegate responsibilities and follow up to ensure timely and accurate execution.
• Manage employee scheduling and attendance to ensure appropriate store coverage while supporting the needs of the business.
• Review employee hours and timekeeping information to ensure accuracy and timely payroll processing.
• Ensure employees understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and standards.
Client Experience & Clienteling
• Deliver an elevated, personalized, and memorable experience to every MILLY client.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with new and existing clients.
• Develop and actively manage the store’s client book to drive repeat business and customer loyalty.
• Lead by example in proactive client outreach, follow-up, appointment selling, and relationship building.
• Conduct personal styling sessions and provide knowledgeable, confident wardrobe recommendations.
• Ensure the entire team understands the importance of clienteling and consistently develops meaningful customer relationships.
• Resolve customer questions and concerns professionally and in accordance with company standards, escalating significant matters when appropriate.
• Maintain the high level of professionalism and service expected of the MILLY brand across all customer interactions, including telephone, email, and in-store communication.
Store Events & Business Development
• Partner with the corporate team to develop and execute in-store events, activations, and client experiences designed to increase traffic, engagement, and sales.
• Identify opportunities to build relationships within the local community and expand the store’s customer base.
• Support marketing and promotional initiatives that strengthen brand awareness and drive business to the Madison Avenue location.
• Develop creative ideas to engage existing VIP clients while attracting new customers.
Product & Visual Merchandising
• Maintain an exceptional level of product knowledge and ensure the team is well informed regarding collections, fabrics, fit, styling, and key seasonal pieces.
• Use product and customer insights to inform merchandising, replenishment, and stock movement decisions.
• Ensure the sales floor and store displays consistently reflect MILLY’s brand standards and the design intent of each collection.
• Maintain a polished, organized, and visually compelling store environment at all times.
• Partner with the appropriate corporate teams on visual merchandising direction and execution.
• Stay informed about fashion, retail, customer, and competitive trends relevant to the MILLY business.
Inventory & Store Operations
• Oversee all day-to-day store operations and ensure the store runs efficiently and professionally.
• Maintain accurate inventory and oversee receiving, transfers, replenishment, stock counts, and stockroom organization.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs, opportunities, and concerns to the appropriate corporate teams.
• Take ownership of inventory accuracy and loss prevention and ensure merchandise and company assets are properly protected.
• Lead store inventory counts, recalls, transfers, and related stock-management processes.
• Ensure operational policies and procedures are consistently followed.
• Promptly report and follow up on store maintenance, facility, or operational issues.
• Adapt positively to new systems, technology, and operational processes and effectively train the store team on changes.
• Partner with Customer Service and corporate teams to ensure policies and procedures support a seamless customer experience.
Qualifications
• Previous retail management experience, preferably within luxury, designer, or contemporary women’s fashion.
• Proven ability to drive sales and achieve or exceed store goals and KPIs.
• Strong leadership skills with experience recruiting, coaching, motivating, and developing a retail team.
• Established understanding of clienteling and relationship-based selling.
• Passion for fashion, styling, and delivering an elevated customer experience.
• Strong business acumen with an entrepreneurial and results-oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance selling-floor leadership with operational and administrative responsibilities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining exceptional brand and visual standards.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on retail environment.
• Flexible availability based on the needs of the business, including weekends, holidays, and special events.
