From the very beginning, agnès b. developed a style that was subtle, chic and casual all at once, which helped to turn the French designer into a fashion icon, a “style, a state of mind.”
“For me, clothes are all about feeling in harmony with yourself to be able to think about something else,” said agnès b. “They are only a means. If I can help people to feel good, to feel attractive, so much the better, that’s what brings me pleasure.”
agnès b. is a privately owned, family operated company based in Paris, France. Her first store opened in the Les Halles area of Paris in 1975, and New York, London and Japan soon followed. Known for timeless, everyday chic Parisian clothes, agnès b. opened her Upper East Side store at 1063 Madison Avenue in 1984, which continues today.
A longtime patron and supporter of the arts, agnès b. also opened La Fab., a contemporary art center located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris in 2020, publishes the hybrid art periodical Le Point d’Ironie four times a year, and operates the agnès b.
